Bilan de mi-parcours
Aujourd’hui on est le 11 mai, c'est-à-dire que ça fait exactement 3 mois que je suis en Chine, et que j’ai déjà consommé plus de la moitié de mon séjour (je pars le 4 aout). Il est donc largement temps de faire un premier bilan (les experts diront bilan à chaud) de cette expérience. Alors je précise tout de suite que ce bilan est basé sur mon expérience personnelle, après seulement une courte période dans le pays, mais comme le site est hébergé en France j’ai le droit d’écrire dessus ce que je pense ^^ (donc pour les chinois qui me lisent n’en prenez pas ombrage, surtout pour les parties politique et travail, mais si vous avez un point de vue différent, je suis ouvert aux discussions). Faites attention, j'étais inspiré ;).
La première chose appréciable ici, c’est qu’on découvre des choses tous les jours, et même si on ne comprend pas tout (comme par exemple pourquoi il y avait un groupe de danseurs en costume s’entrainant devant mon labo ce matin), on a l’impression de redevenir un gosse, et ça juste en allant au boulot tous les jours. Un point que j’ai noté, c’est que plus on voit de choses, plus on a envie d’en voir, et du coup j’ai l’impression que j’aurais jamais le temps de faire tout ce que je veux faire ; ce qui est assez bizarre quand on y pense vu qu’il me reste quand même quasiment encore 3 mois, ce qui n’est clairement pas négligeable. Du coup j’ai l’impression que le temps passe super vite, mais en général c’est un indicateur de bon temps :).
Le deuxième point, c’est qu’ici beaucoup de choses sont très peu cher, donc avec le budget qu’on consacre au resto U en France on peut se permettre de bien manger, de bien boire, de sortir régulièrement en boite et de beaucoup voyager. Du coup j’ai décidé qu’il faudrait que j’ai un métier bien payé pour garder le même train de vie, mais c’est clairement pas gagné quand on voit les prix de Paris :p.
Si on parle maintenant plus des chinois, le première chose qu’on peut noter et qu’ils n’ont pas peur du ridicule, et que ça ne les dérange absolument pas de sortir dans la rue en pyjama, de danser ou de chanter dans un square, de dormir n’importe où, de débattre devant tout le monde, de faire des tours de pistes en marchant à reculons, de taper un sprint pour avoir une place assise dans le métro, etc. Mais du coup on peut se poser la question suivante : qui c’est qui est le plus bête dans l’histoire, eux qui peuvent passer régulièrement pour ridicule mais qui font ce qu’ils veulent faire, ou bien nous qui devons garder notre dignité en toute circonstance alors qu’en fait on voudrait faire la même chose qu’eux ?
Un petit point sur la mode maintenant (oui, je n’ai pas vraiment de chronologie pour mon bilan, mais comme dirait notre prof de management british, c’est clairement pas fait à la française, parce que sinon ça serait en 3 parties avec thèse-antithèse-synthèse ^^).
Donc côté vestimentaire, en Chine on retrouve vraiment de tout, parfois avec des fautes de goûts (un blazer avec un pantalon de survêt), parfois vraiment classe, avec beaucoup plus de couleurs que chez nous (donc plus sympa). Il n’y a pas vraiment de style de génération, certains jeunes vont mettre des habits qu’on catégoriserait 3ème âge, et certaines personne d’âge plus mûr vont s’habiller très classe (de dos on a l’impression de suivre une demoiselle de 25 ans, mais quand on voit le visage elle en a 50, du coup on est un peu déçu :p). Ainsi juste le fait de regarder les gens dans la rue c’est assez sympa en général, et on est toujours surpris (cf. paragraphe précédent).
A propos de rue, un petit point sur la conduite. Je prends le bus tous les jours, et je n’ose pas regarder la route, parce que même dans Need For Speed je ne conduis pas comme ça :s. Ça double à droite, à gauche, ça roule sur la BAU (quand il y en a, ce qui est rare), ça klaxonne, ça slalome… bref, heureusement qu’on est dans un car donc plus gros que les autres :p.
Autre côté important, le travail. Que ce soit à l’université ou dans la rue, ils vont travailler beaucoup mais très peu efficacement. Par exemple, dans les labos, même s’ils arrivent à midi, ils vont rester jusqu'à 22 heures en codant, regardant des séries et jouant au solitaire en même temps. Du coup ils font un master en 6 ans et demi au lieu de 5, mais c’est assez perturbant parce que le rythme est complètement différent de l’Insa où l’objectif est de boucler les projets le plus rapidement possible pour faire autre chose a côté (qui a parlé d’associatif ? ;) ). On peut aussi noter ça pour les magasins qui sont ouvert au minimum jusqu'à 22h tous les jours et l'on peut trouver à manger un peu partout 24/24h (ça va me manquer en France !).
Du coup ils font du bon boulot quand on leur dit quoi faire (mais il ne faut pas être pressé !), mais le gros point noir c’est qu’ils sont incapables de prendre une initiative ou de remettre en question un fonctionnement existant (par exemple dans l’équipe où je bosse, sans rien connaitre du projet, c’est moi qui est donné les nouvelles directives de dev alors que je dois être le moins compétent en code). Donc même si l’université où je suis est réputée mondialement, les ingénieurs qui en sortent sont plus des techniciens supérieurs ou des développeurs que des génies logiciels ou des chefs de projets. Après vu que tous les étudiants font au minimum une année et demie de recherche, bah ça finit par créer des résultats, d’où la position de l’université dans les classements internationaux(mais ils sont 70k nous on n’est que 5k ^^).
Néanmoins, ils ont beau avoir beaucoup de chercheurs, ils ont encore un peu du mal avec internet, car même s’ils utilisent des technos de pointe, ils sont juste trop nombreux à tirer dessus, du coup ça avance pas (et ça que ça soit à la fac ou dans mon immeuble). Et quand on rajoute un routage depuis la France pour bypasser le Grand Pare-feu, je n’en parle même pas.
Sinon le point où l’on se pose le plus de questions, c’est la politique. Pour rappel, même si la République Populaire de Chine (le véritable nom aux nations unies) a une économie ultra-capitaliste (encore pire que les US), il n’y a toujours qu’un seul parti (le PCC), et les 4 principes constitutionnels sont « le rôle dirigeant du PCC, le marxisme-léninisme et la pensée de Mao Zedong, la dictature démocratique du peuple (sisi !), et la Voie socialiste). Le premier secrétaire du parti est président de la république, les 73 millions de membres du partis sont répartis dans toutes les administrations, et les 3000 députés l’Assemblée Nationale Populaire sont juste là pour ratifier les lois du Comité permanent du bureau politique du PCC et élire le président proposé par ce dernier.
Mais quand on demande aux étudiants ce qu’ils en pensent (on a beaucoup parlé de l’élection française, largement rediffusée), ils répondent qu’ils ne s’occupent pas trop de politique, que pour le moment ça va, et que de toutes façon si tout le monde avait le droit de vote ça serait le bordel vu qu’ils étaient trop nombreux et trop différents selon les diverses provinces. Pas faux, mais la liberté de penser et le droit à l’information c’est pas mal aussi :s. Et je ne suis pas sûr que les ouvriers ou les agriculteurs qui vivent dans leurs usines et qui n' ont qu'une après-midi de repos par semaine soient autant d’accord…
A ce propos la Chine subit toujours des révolutions contre le parti, majoritairement dans les provinces autonomes, les dernières ayant eu lieu au Tibet (2008) et au Wulumuqi (25/07/2009), mais du peu que les shanghaiens en savent, c’est des terroristes étrangers qui font ça, et c’est normal que ces territoires soient chinois. Bon. A ce propos beaucoup de chinois pensent que Taiwan est une province autonome chinoise, donc j’étais assez surpris.
Par contre c’est pas évident de discuter de politique, car les chinois étant très fiers de leur pays (ce dont on ne peut pas vraiment qualifier les français…), ils se braquent assez vite quand on dit que tout n’est pas parfait en Chine, et on il ne faut surtout pas toucher a Mao.
De même, côté histoire, ils n’aiment pas parler de Tiananmen (quand ils connaissent…) ou du grand bond en avant de Mao, c’est plutôt des problèmes politiques (comme en Syrie…), donc ça sert à rien d’en parler il y a des gens payés pour penser à ça.
Sinon dernier point, comme nous l’a expliqué notre prof d’économie, une grande partie du business chinois se fait sur du faux, donc c’est à prendre en compte quand on fait du shopping, parce que c’est illégal d’en ramener en France (une connaissance s’est fait confisquer un robe achetée chez Channel sur la rue principale de Shanghai dans la boutique du même nom… ), du coup ca amène à réfléchir sur la question suivante : faut-il forcément un crocodile sur un polo pour qu’il soit mettable ? ^^ (Quoi qu’il faut que je me ramène une ceinture Crocodile, elles ont trop la classe ^^).
Pour finir, après trois mois je n’ai plus spécialement envie de manger du sucre tout le temps (alors qu’au début c’était un paquet de gâteau après chaque repas), on progresse en chinois (mais on est très très loin de parler couramment), les chinois galèrent toujours en anglais (même si ceux qui parlent bien sont persuadés que tous les shanghaiens parlent bien aussi), les solutions aux problèmes sont toujours simples (« - t’as pas assez de RAM dans ton ordi ? Bah on va-t’en passer un deuxième ! »), et les chinois toujours aussi sympa.
Donc après trois mois, tout va bien, même si le boulot avance clairement pas vite, on va visiter des villes d’eau ce week-end, on a les billets de train et l’auberge pour Xi’an (prononcer xshianne) le week-end d’après, et la préparation de l’excursion pour les Montagnes Jaunes du week-end suivant est en bonne voie; la température alterne entre 20° et 32° un jour sur deux, et j’ai toujours un clavier chinois sans accent donc toutes mes excuses s’il en manque dans cet article.
