You love them wholeheartedly yet somehow you're left a little flat as they don't show you the same affection in return. They turn up when they want to and then leave when they want to, They have dinner with you, but you know they are probably having dinner with two or three people that same evening. And when you buy them a gift, they bring you a dead mouse. OK perhaps not the last analogy, but I'm sure you know what I mean.
