Consensus estimates are for a 180,000 increase in non-farm payrolls last month, up from the 162,000 gain in July. The unemployment rate is expected to remain unchanged at 7.4 per cent, though this has already fallen speedily from 7.9 per cent in January. The data is due out at 13:30 London time. The FTSE 100 is down 6.46 at 6,525.98.
