With a strimmer, once I started it I just had to get it over and done with. In terms of wildlife, suddenly removing all top growth in one fell swoop is pretty devastating. Now I do bits at a time, waiting for late flowerers to seed in certain bits, or removing a tatty section, and I can keep my meadow looking better for longer.
